Mentoring, Coaching & Difficult People

I think that the most interesting topic that we discussed in the past month was the idea behind Mentoring, Coaching & Difficult People. Dealing with difficult people is inevitable on a daily basis.  Understanding how to handle difficult people and difficult situations goes a long way in life. In your professional and personal life it is important to understand that people view things differently than you do. Seeing both sides of the prospective often teaches both parties a lesson. I would say this is one of the most important aspects of being involved with company personnel.

  1. I believe that we can all agree that we have had our share of dealing with difficult people. It becomes increasingly difficult to coach an individual who also doubles as a difficult individual. Personal, trusting relationships prove to be beneficial when having to interact with others. I believe that remaining confident and open minded can solve any issue that presents itself when working with others.

  2. You'll likely run into a difficult person in almost in job. i agree that knowing how to deal with them is important. fighting for positions will only increase the difficulty. trying to understand both perspectives will move both parties closer to an agreement.

  3. One thing that we discussed was dealing WITH difficult people, but it should be noted that sometimes WE are the difficult people and we should be sure to communicate and get feedback to prevent thinking it is someone else. I think the problem of difficult people can be solved with feedback about it (in a very calm business like setting) to let people know how to best interact in every situation.
